The Kempinski Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg and BMW Group Hamburg present the new BMW Suite, located on the third floor of the hotel. It is directly under the ‘James Bond Suite’, in which scenes from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ were filmed. The designers, Suzan Buchholz and Helmut Warnstedt, of W+P Interiors complemented the existing architecture of high ceilings and stucco with design, light and materials from BMW limousines. The rooms have silver-grey velour walls, pale grey ceilings and a special Xenon light bar system alongside chrome, anthracite fabric and hand-made leather panels. In the suite’s 80 square metres, the designers played with the colours of the BMW world. Even the bolstered up leather panels of the walk-in cupboard and the bed evoke memories of the exclusive fitting and stream lined design of a deluxe automobile. The suite is composed of a bedroom, sitting room with views over the Alster Lake, dressing room with walk-in cupboards and a bathroom in the hotel’s trademark colours of black, white and chrome. The BMW Suite documents the close collaboration between BMW and the Kempinski Hotel Atlantic in a very different and revolutionary way. Sebastian Heinemann, the hotel’s general manager, explains: “This is the first suite we have equipped together with a partner. There are other co-operations with luxury brands to follow. I particularly think of companies whose lifestyle products are placed on the highest segment and which would suit being presented in this rather unusual way.’ The new BMW suite is the first result of the extensive renovation programme at the Kempinski Hotel Atlantic. The lobby has been officially launched on 31st December 2002. During the first weeks of 2003, there has also been a new telephone system installed. In addition, all rooms have been provided with new telephone sets to offer ISDN capability. Wireless LAN Service is available in all function rooms, in the lobby and in all hotel rooms and suites. The Kempinski Hotel Atlantic Hamburg first opened its doors in 1909. Its snow-white facade, a local landmark, also served as unmistakable scenery for BMW driver “James Bond” during the location shooting for “Tomorrow Never Dies”. In reverence to “Her Majesty’s Secret Agent”, there will also be photographs of the filming at the hotel displayed in the new BMW Suite. |
