Mission
Following the mutilation of Felix Leiter and the death of Della Leiter at the hands of drug czar Franz Sanchez, 007 disobeys orders and pursues Sanchez with a vengeance. Bond's obsession costs him his licence to kill - and nearly his life.

Felix Leiter, James Bonds vän och agentkollega, ska gifta sig. Bond själv är marskalk.
På vägen till kyrkan får Felix reda på att knarkkungen Franz Sanchez är på fri fot, och beger sig, med hjälp av Bond, ut på jakt.
Tillfångatagandet lyckas, och bröllopet sätter igång på allvar. Men det visar sig att Sanchez lyckas muta sig fri, och under fängelsetransporten sker en planerad kupp som ger Sanchez friheten tillbaka. Som hämnd för att ha blivit tillfångatagen låter Sanchez döda Felix nyblivna hustru och kasta Felix till hajarna, där han mister ena benet. Bond har under tiden begett sig från bröllopsfesten och är på väg hem, då han blir informerad om att Sanchez rymt. Bond skyndar sig tillbaka till Felix hus, och upptäcker en medvetslös Felix med en lapp som lyder "He disagreed with something that ate him". Bond bestämmer sig för att hämnas, och tar upp jakten på den förrymde Sanchez. När Bond vägrar att lyda order från M angående att sluta upp med sin privata vendetta, blir han av med sin rätt att döda. Trots det fortsätter Bond sin jakt, och möter under sin vendetta Pam Bouvier, Sanchez flickvän Lupe Lamora och även Q, som blivit övertalad av Moneypenny att hjälpa Bond. Pam Bouiver är även hon villig att hjälpa Bond, och räddar honom från att dö i en fabrikslokal. Efter en hetsig och brutal hämndaktion, lyckas Bond till slut att få ut sin hämnd.

A convey of large tanker trucks, which were bought by Sanchez, and if petrol were not addictive enough they were also doped with cocaine.

Franz Sanchez's chemists had developed a way of combining cocaine with gasoline by converting it into liquid and chemically combining it with cocaine for export purposed, the cocaine was then converted back to it's pure form. The tanker trucks were used to carry the fuel over the border without suspicion. After Sanchez's base was burnt down by Bond, the trucks were driven out of the base to safety, where Bond destroyed the tankers and the drugs.
